Jack is a hamadryas and olive baboon hybrid who was privately owned as a pet and used in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles before being relinquished to a California sanctuary because of the cost to keep him (California required an expensive insurance policy, so his owner eventually turned them over). When we heard that the California sanctuary was in the process of closing, we stepped in to rescue Jack and his half-sister Janet.
