Buffy was purchased as a pet for a little girl in 1974 and was sold to the Buckshire Corporation, which bred chimpanzees and also leased animals to research labs and the entertainment industry, when she was only three years old. She arrived at PPI in April of 1996. At first, Buffy was very scared of new people. However, now she is outgoing. She can eat more than most of the chimpanzees in her group. She prefers greens over fruit which is uncommon amongst the chimpanzees. Buffy also has a special hammock that she likes to eat her meals on and sometimes spends hours on it. She also enjoys music and is captivated with musical instruments.
