Last week when Friends of Animals staff visited Primarily Primates, we were invited to a coconut party with the 42 chimps at the sanctuary! We were not the only ones excited as you can see from the photos of Buffy, Chobe, Hope, Koko and Raisin.

The party was made possible by a generous donatikokoon of 200 coconuts by Rosemary Kenigsberg. Food enrichment such as coconut parties provides our residents with novel foods and experiences that stimulate their taste buds and their brains. It’s a way to foster behaviors and activities they’d expect if they were still living in the wild, where every day was full of surprises.
