Jewel was exploited by research before being rescued by Primarily Primates. She shares her habitat with four other chimps including Hope, Grace and Deeter. She humors Grace, the youngest chimp at the sanctuary, when Grace charges around their large grassy habitat moving quickly. They will often grab each other and play bite. Such wonderful, playful companionship is something chimpanzees were robbed of as research subjects who lived in isolation.
